I had every intention of getting us back on track and in to a regular school schedule this week after our Fall break last week. That didn't quite happen!

Do you ever just feel like you should start your school year all over again, from the beginning? We have been so far out of a schedule or any type of routine with school work since Daddy left on his deployment, that I just feel like we are spinning our wheels trying to "catch up".  So I talked to Eli about just starting over, even repeating/reviewing some of the lessons that we have completed in the past few months. He sort of agreed with me and says that he wants to "re-do" some of the lessons that he doesn't remember very much from. So I spent most of the day on Monday re-working lesson plans.

Monday has really become sort of an extension of our weekend. We are usually exhausted on Monday because our Sunday is so full with church time and we don't typically get much sleep between Saturday night and Sunday morning. That is the one draw back to our night owl schedule around here. Our day doesn't usually start until around noon when we finally roll out of bed. I usually spend Mondays catching up on chores & laundry, so not much, if any, school work gets done.

We started a new devotional time on Tuesday during breakfast. While the boys ate their cereal I read from His Mighty Warrior: A Treasure Map from Your King. Each day has a "letter" from God, a Scripture verse, & a prayer to read. I intend to use the prayers and/or Scripture verse as copywork for Eli but my printer was out of ink so I didn't get the pages printed off yet. Then we listened to a worship song on YouTube that went along with the topic and Scripture verse.

We also started using Eli's Daily Learning Notebook again. I have changed it some from the original notebook a few years ago. Some of the things in the notebook include a weather chart, a calendar, Domino Math, and a Sign Language ABC chart. I plan to create one for Everett this coming week.

Tuesday was a whiny, cranky, tantrum day .... lots of whining, crying, name-calling, arguing, & tattling from the boys. Ok, well maybe some of the whining and crying could have come from me too. At some point, I even threatened Eli with public school....yeah, not a proud Mama Moment, but it happened. Everett ran from the table after Devotional time, crying and yelling "I don't want to do school work!" I found him in his room, sitting on his bed with his arms crossed and pouting. I managed to coax him back to the table with the idea of drawing pictures to send to Daddy.

After working on the pictures for Daddy, everyone was in slightly better moods so we did about an hour of school work and called it a day. We went outside for a short bike ride and walk to collect some leaves for a few activities for Everett.

Working in his Daily Learning Notebook

Wednesday was errand day, so we did our Devotional Time and then Eli worked in his Daily Learning Notebook before we left the house. After returning home from our errands Everett worked on learning to recognize and spell his name with this fun Milk Cap activity. (I got the idea from here)

Thursday after Eli did his Daily Learning Notebook, I decided that we just needed to get out of the house to have some fun....so we went bowling. After bowling, Everett and I worked on some "Fall Fun" leaf activities. Then we had Praise Team practice in the evening.

I am sitting here, trying to remember what we did on Friday....and drawing a complete blank. Kind of sad considering that was less than 24 hours ago...oy!

Oh yeah...I spent a good portion of the afternoon trying to get the TV to turn on...for what ever reason, the little power outage that we had in the wee hours of the morning, blew the TV but not the DVD player or the Wii that are all on the same surge protector. Funny thing is, the very first thing I said when we discovered that the TV was broken..."Oh my gosh...how am I gonna watch The Walking Dead on Sunday!"

Friday night, I got a babysitter for the boys so that Michaela and I could go out with some of our Praise Team members to a Haunted Trail. I fell down a few times laughing hysterically and peed my pants when a creeper jumped out of the trees. It was so much fun!

What have we done today? We slept in late. The boys have played Minecraft, watched YouTube videos, played Captain America and the Hulk....Everett loves to say "Hulk SMASH!", and played with Legos. We took Michaela over to her boyfriends house for a birthday party this afternoon. And except for tending to the boys when ever they would call for me and the 45 minutes that I took to clean up and reorganize my computer work space, I have pretty much been on this computer all evening trying to get caught up on blogging and Facebook group stuff.

Now it's time for baths and bedtimes!
