It's been awhile....

4 weeks to be exact, since my last blog post.  You may have wondered where we have been? If you are still hanging around to read my blog...THANK YOU! I never intended to take a leave of absence but sometimes life happens and some things have to be set aside for a bit.

So what happened?

Nothing terribly exciting, it has just been a little stressful and chaotic around here for the past 4 to 6 weeks as we prepared for my husband to be on active-duty orders, away from home, with the Army.  Of course, as you can imagine, with the "government shutdown", his orders have been delayed.  A blessing and a slight financial hardship.  A blessing that Hubby isn't going anywhere just yet.  However, active-duty orders means a small increase in income and better medical benefits for our family so, financially speaking, we were a little let down.  Even though it would & will be hard to have Hubby away for a year, he would be in the States for most of that year, so he could potentially come home every now and then for long weekends.

Although Hubby still has his civilian job, since the government shutdown, he has not had his regular Drill weekend this month and we are missing that little extra bit of income that it brings in....so things are financially tight around here. Actually, a little more like Boa Constrictor TIGHT!!!

Needless to say, that the past few weeks our homeschooling "schedule" has undergone some changes!

We were attending co-op on Monday mornings, which was the only "school" that we did on Monday. Sadly, we cannot continue to attend at this time due to the extra gas expense.  So we are starting up our Mission Mondays (I will explain this more in another post) again...a combination of very focused Life Skills lessons (cooking, meal planning, sewing, indoor container gardening, etc.) & household chores.

On Tuesdays, the girls and I are baby-sitting for the Zumba class at our church. We will only be there for a little over an hour so we could run any necessary errands afterwards.  There are several nice nature reserve areas that are on the way home from our church that we can stop at for some Nature Study time.

Wednesday is an unschool day for Michaela and Eli because I am teaching a pre-k toddler class for our Mid-Week Morning Out program at our church. I can bring Everett with me, so he will have "school" on this day.

Thursdays & Fridays will be our planned school days.  OK...so that part isn't so bad for me...only having to actually "plan" two days worth of lessons for each kid!

And then Eli has tutoring on Saturday mornings.

The flexibility in our schedule when life throws a curve ball at us is one of the reasons that I am so grateful to be able to homeschool our children!

Anyway, thank you again for sticking around during my absence!  Hopefully now I can start posting again a couple times each week....I have a couple reviews coming up & a few other post ideas to share this month, so I hope that you stick around a little longer!

God Bless!
